After more than two years of personal pandemic exile, the genre veterans from the town of Scranton in the US state of Pennsylvania celebrated their return to Europe’s stages on Saturday at the Alter Schlachthof in Wels.
Founded in 2006, the five-strong team around singer Greg Barnett knew how to entertain the 300 spectators for about an hour and a half. Texts full of self-doubt (“Good Things”), longing for lost love (“Anna”) or anger about the social situation in their home country (“America, You’re Freaking Me Out”) met catchy melodies, fast rhythms and overdriven guitars .
Barnett’s singing was wailing in the usual manner and with a few vocal dropouts contributed to the mood typical of the music genre. The humorous concert evening organized by the organizer SBÄM was rounded off by the two supporting bands Sincere Engineer and Joyce Manor. (fep)
