Enns expands the offer for young families with a pump track railway

If you want to get children and young people moving, you don’t just need the willingness of the individual to do so. Offers and freedom are needed where this urge of the young (and the young at heart) can also be pursued.

The town of Enns has been aware of this for a long time. “We are a growing city,” says Mayor Christian Deleja-Hotko (SP). And you have to be different.

The pump track is an expression of this otherness. Completing the existing sporting leisure facilities in Enns (beach volleyball facility, skater park, fun court) with such a facility was one reason why the municipal council decided to do so with a “large political majority”, says Deleja-Hotko in the OÖN interview. The question of who can present “the best possible concept” for this has now been answered. The Viennese company Trailelements won the competition.

The usable ride length, the various design elements and the possibilities for beginners and professionals were ultimately decisive for Trail Elements.

Around six weeks are estimated for the construction work. That’s too long that it’s going to be something this year. This is less due to the (unpredictable) weather and more to the fact that the water rights notice for the facility planned across from the sports center following the fun court is still missing. The water rights hearing will take place on November 15th.

Provided that the decision is made, which is assumed, the construction work should begin after the winter. The system would then be available at the beginning of the warmer season in Enns.

Maximum 270,000 euros

You also invest a lot in this. The track with its 1.6 meter high berms, which would allow more intensive use, cost 145,000 euros. According to Mayor Deleja-Hotko, around 120,000 euros will be required for the redesign of the area. A maximum of 270,000 euros is estimated for the entire project.

Even if professionals can use the system, it should still be an offer for young families with children. “It was important to us that the railway can be used with all vehicles,” says the mayor of Enns. Small children should be able to ride their bikes there as well as skateboarders or scooter riders. Wheelchair users can also be active here. (rgr)
