Kefermarkter Michael Lindner, who was elected SPÖ state chairman on October 1, handed over his office as district chairman to Christian Gratzl, Mayor of Freistadt. Gratzl was previously Lindner’s deputy and was unanimously elected executive district chairman of the SPÖ at a meeting of the district party committee on Monday.
Lindner can devote himself entirely to his future tasks as head of the SPÖ and state councilor. “Christian Gratzl is characterized above all by experience, competence and his humanity. As mayor of Freistadt, he shows that he is a connector and always thinks about the future. I would like to thank him for taking responsibility now and I am convinced that the district SP is in good hands with him,” says Lindner about his successor at the head of the district party organization.
After the election, Gratzl returned the compliment to his predecessor: “I wish Michael Lindner all the best for the challenges ahead. As a state councillor, he will actively support our region in the state government.” Gratzl emphasized that he was looking forward to working in the district party, where he saw great potential. Together with many young people on the board, he wants to exploit this potential beyond the community boundaries and make a contribution to a livable district with a strong social-democratic signature.
