The tents for asylum seekers continue to cause waves in the federal states. For example, the SPÖ Burgenland shot at Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP), who was “idly watching” despite the dramatic refugee situation. As reported, the minister also considers tents to be likely in other federal states – in addition to those in Upper Austria and Carinthia. The situation is “dynamic and dramatic in some places”.

Refugee coordinator Andreas Achrainer again appealed to the federal states on Tuesday evening in the ZiB2 of the ORF to provide fixed quarters in the state basic supply, “then no tents would be necessary”. The federal government had pointed out the problem for months, but the federal states had not followed suit. The BBU and the Minister of the Interior speak weekly with the federal states so that they can fulfill their tasks – he hopes for consensus and one can already hear positive signals.
