According to the Liezen district fire brigade, the concrete slab under the tower crane had broken. The mast of the crane broke through the roof structure of an accommodation facility and damaged it “extensively”. The crane boom fell on a neighboring carport and completely destroyed it. People were not harmed.
According to the fire brigade, the counter-jib concrete weights fell directly onto the main entrance of the accommodation facility. Because it was closed, there were no people in it. No vehicles had been parked under the carport on the adjoining property either. An adjacent residential building, in which several people were, was not hit. The fire brigade, which was alerted at 11:34 p.m., had been deployed with 15 people. There were also two rescue workers and two police officers.
