Where the Linz marathon is celebrated

First and foremost, the Oberbank Linz-Donau Marathon is of course a major sporting event: around 9,500 runners will be out and about in the various categories – on foot in the quarter, half and full marathon and relay race, but also on roller skates and mobile bikes – next weekend. One of the highlights is the junior marathon on Saturday in the Lissfeld sports park, in which 1,199 three to seventeen-year-olds will compete, staggered by age group.

But the marathon is more than a sporting event: the approximately 100,000 visitors that the organizers are expecting can expect plenty of entertainment along the route and beyond – a real folk festival. Four speed zones and music miles are distributed along the 42.195-kilometer route, one of which is on the Nibelungen Bridge, for example. DJs and music groups heat up the crowd there. At kilometer 3 (corner of Freistädterstraße/Johann-Willhelm-Klein-Straße) there is also the Dornach district festival, at Schweindal Wirt at ASKÖ-Donau-Platz at kilometer 32 the district of Kleinmünchen celebrates.
