The two unions announced this in a broadcast on Wednesday evening after the end of the third round of negotiations. The round was interrupted after twelve hours without result, and works meetings follow.
The demands are far higher than in trade and metallurgy, where the union demands are 10 and 10.6 percent respectively. According to the union, the employers of the Austrian social economy had offered 7.5 percent, at least 150 euros, and thus increased their offer. Most recently, an employer offer of plus 7.18 percent was in the room.
“Colleagues in the health and social sector have been in constant crisis action for three years. They need compensation well above the rate of increase so that they can continue to finance their lives,” explained Eva Scherz, chief negotiator of the GPA union, in a broadcast . Roman Gutsch, who negotiates for the vida union, said: “With the demand for at least 350 euros, we take low incomes into account in particular. They are particularly affected by inflation.”
The employers, however, had offered exactly the inflation rate, for the trade unionists “clearly too low”. In the past three years, employees have had to perform at their best even more than usual and have been under enormous pressure. The salary statement must reflect that. In addition to the salary, various framework legal requirements are being negotiated.
“Because the offer from the employers is not sufficient, we are increasing the pressure and holding works meetings in the social economy from November 8th to 10th,” says Scherz.
