Union Village – Like a phoenix from the ashes

When Union Dorf an der Pram and TSV Utzenaich meet on the soccer field, one thing is guaranteed: goal celebrations – usually on both sides. In the previous six duels, a total of 43 goals were scored (19 scored Dorf, 24 Utzenaich). While TSV was able to clearly win the matches in 2012 (10:3) and 2016 (6:3), the villagers have always had the upper hand since 2017. Most recently at the weekend, in a 6-5 win. This time, coach Mario Mitrovic’s team made it extremely exciting, because the decisive goal came in added time (92nd) – by substitute Moritz Murauer and from almost 30 meters. The eleven goals and the exciting finish were not the only special features of this game: With Elias Reisegger, the nephew of Utzenaich coach Gerald Reisegger scored the interim 2-0 for Union Dorf. The 3:1 was also curious. After TSV’s connection hit, the villagers had an impetus. Immediately afterwards, still standing in his own half of the field, Melis Becirbasic put the ball in the goal from 50 meters away.

At the last minute

The fact that Union Dorf is a specialist when it comes to late goals has already been shown several times this year: in the 3-2 win against Riedau (minute 94), the draw against Neumarkt/Pötting (minute 92), the 5-4 win against Taiskirchen (88 minutes) and most recently the 6:5 win against Utzenaich (92 minutes). The three points at the weekend catapulted the Union to the top of the district league West. A position that officials didn’t necessarily expect at the start of the season. “After being relegated from the Landesliga in the summer, we had mixed feelings. On the one hand, the majority of the team stayed together despite relegation, on the other hand we were unsure after the previous season. But luckily we had a good start to the championship with three wins in a row. That was good,” says Philipp Gadermayr. The 31-year-old plays in the combat team and has also been section head of Union Dorf since March of this year.

Union Village - Like a phoenix from the ashes

Although his team is currently at the top of the table, Gadermayr keeps the ball low. “We are all athletes and of course highly motivated after our successes, but actually the district league suits us. But if we manage to get promoted again, then we will of course be happy to take it with us. However, it is still much too early to talk about it at all. See you A lot can happen at the end of the championship.”

In the footsteps of the fathers

In any case, a lot has happened on the board of Union Dorf, which has recently become much younger. In March, many young people took over the scepter and thus responsibility. The office of chairman and section head has remained in the family: Dominik Gehmaier took over for his father Günther (chairman), Philipp Gadermayr from his father Gerhard. The two “elders” have moved to the second row and are now their sons’ deputies. “The knowledge and experience of our parents’ generation, combined with a breath of fresh air, works perfectly. It can go on like this,” says Philipp Gadermayr. Also sporty.
