If you add up the playing time of the Stöffelbauer brothers Walter, Gerhard, Fritz and Günter, you get a quarter of a century at SK Forward Steyr. “We had great times and many beautiful moments. It is important to me to be able to give something back to the club,” says Günter Stöffelbauer, looking forward to the tasks ahead of him. The head of the event agency “High Jump” should be given a place on the board of directors of the Red and White and contribute his sporting expertise as well as his network.
If you look back over the past few years, there was a lack of a strong sporting component on the board of SK BMD Verwarts Steyr. Someone who oversees and guides the sporting fortunes with years of personal experience and a good network. According to the Forward broadcast, this someone has now been found in Günter Stöffelbauer: He not only knows Forward inside out, but also about football itself.
14 years as a professional soccer player stand on Stöffelbauer’s CV. From 1988 to 1992 he played for Vorwarts Steyr in the Bundesliga. As a trainer at the Linz Academy (U16, U18), he trained, among others, the current Bundesliga and national team player Andreas Ulmer: “It is important to me to work closely with people in the sporting field – whether in the combat team or in the youth.” With coach Daniel Madlener, with whom he played actively himself, is already in constant contact with Stöffelbauer.
Now he would like to turn the appropriate wheels and use the coming transfer period accordingly so that the Red and Whites can continue the performance of the past season in the spring. “One or two players can definitely make a difference. However, it is important that they fit into the overall system. It’s always about the team.”
In order to realize this project in accordance with our statutes, the current board of directors will bring a motion at next Tuesday’s annual general meeting to expand the board of directors from a maximum of nine to a maximum of 15 members. This should make it possible to co-opt Stöffelbauer to the board after the board election and to anchor his sporting expertise in the club management.
