Heroine saga for the 800th anniversary of Wels

CATFISH. It all started in April with a play about the minnesinger Walther von der Vogelweide by director Franz Strasser. After this cultural journey through time to the Middle Ages, the 800th anniversary of the city of Wels continued through the centuries. The end of the cultural series “Oktogon” is now the Welser commissioned work “Lost Olivia”, which takes a look into the future.

“The piece is a modern heroine saga,” explains director Gabriele-Kirsten Lutz, who was in charge of realizing “Lost Olivia” with composer Helmut Schmidinger. The main characters are Olivia, the hope, and Agape, the love, separated by a worldwide catastrophe and fighting against dark forces. The spectators step into a pseudo-real computer game. You are in what is called a “Drama-Verse”. “Two guests seemingly selected by a random number generator from the audience can influence the course of the action by controlling a computer game like gamers,” says Lutz. Your task is to accompany Olivia through four future worlds and defeat the dark forces in each of them. Above all, the goal is to rediscover agape.

“Lost Olivia” has been in the works for nine months, and 23 actors are on stage. Most of them were chosen at a casting. They are accompanied by four musicians who, under the direction of Schmidinger, also composed the music for the piece.
The two public performances will take place on Friday, November 4th and Saturday, November 5th at 7.30 p.m. in the Stadttheater Greif. There will also be a school performance on November 4th at 11 am. Tickets are available in the Greif office building and online.
