Rieder’s upward trend is to be continued in Lustenau

Anyone who, after the 2-1 home defeat against Altach, had predicted that SV Ried would win the following three games against Wolfsberg, Rapid and Horn (Cup) would probably have been laughed at by most. With newly won self-confidence, the Rieder Kicker want to achieve their next success next Sunday (2.30 p.m.) against newly promoted Lustenau. A win would overtake Vorarlberg in the table.

On Saturday there will be training in Ried at 1 p.m., after lunch we will go to Lustenau in the afternoon. Coach Christian Heinle will not get on the bus, for a very good reason: the 38-year-old from Grieskirchner will say yes to his wife Lisa for the second time, this time there will be a church wedding in Utzenaich. The wedding has been planned for a long time, but had to be postponed due to Corona. On the day of the match, however, Heinle will be on the outside line, he will come to Lustenau together with sports director Thomas Reicheltshammer by Sunday noon. Heinle says with a laugh that he will attend the wedding celebrations “with the handbrake on”.

The fact that they were able to turn a 0:2 deficit into a 3:2 victory against the leaders of the second division, Horn, in the cup round of 16 on Tuesday is proof of how good the morale of his team is, according to the Rieder coach. “I’m happy that we made it to the quarter-finals. We would be very happy about a home game,” says Heinle. The draw will take place on Sunday evening.

Three players are sick

The Rieders have great respect for Lustenau. “The team has incredible dynamism, especially on the wings. Lustenau plays very courageously,” says Heinle, who has to do without several players in Vorarlberg. In addition to the long-term injured Nikola Stosic (torn cruciate ligament) and Josef Weberbauer (torn collateral ligament in the knee), captain Marcel Ziegl will also be missing for some time. The captain has not been able to complete team training this week. According to Heinle, Luca Kronberger, Agyemang Diawusie and Denizcan Cosgun are also absent in Lustenau due to illness. Young professional Belmin Beganovic will probably be in the squad.
