7151 new corona cases on Saturday

7,151 new infections with the corona virus were registered in Austria on Friday. That was below the average for the past seven days, after which 9,119 new infections were reported per day. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants thus fell further, from 750.9 to 707.1. For comparison: A week earlier, 11,238 laboratory-confirmed new infections had been reported, the seven-day incidence was 1,001.

There was also a decrease in the number of active cases. 105,243 meant 6,125 fewer than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 5,392,347 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in Austria. 5,266,213 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 13,276 have been reported healthy within the past 24 hours.

The number of deaths has been revised down from Friday’s report. Accordingly, the AGES figures published on Saturday showed 20,891 people who died from or with Covid-19, which was 89 fewer than Friday’s figures (20,980). No deaths were reported on Friday, the seven-day average was 6.7 per day. 47 deaths have been recorded in the past seven days.

Current figures on infected hospital patients and tests carried out have not been published on weekends since the end of September. In Austria, this data is only available from Monday to Friday.
