A tragic accident occurred on Sunday around eight in the morning on the A8 in the direction of Suben. A car, occupied by a family of five from Belgium, had left the roadway to the right for reasons that are still unclear. The car overturned in the area of the embankment, hit a sewage duct and came to a standstill lying on its roof.
The 25-year-old driver and his 17-year-old passenger were thrown from the vehicle. When the rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident a little later, they were unresponsive. The other occupants, including two children aged four and five, were still in the vehicle. All those involved were taken to a hospital with some serious injuries, the police said on Sunday.
This was not the only serious accident this weekend in the Innviertel: On Sunday night, three young people were injured in the municipality of Pischelsdorf am Engelbach after a woman from the Innviertel crashed her car into a tree without braking.
