Blue and white Linz storms forward

In the 88th minute, when Blau-Weiß Linz played in the 2nd division against Kapfenberg (4:2), all dams broke: Matthias Seidl had pulled from the penalty area, his full volley shot landed right in the corner – and the entire Linz bench sprinted onto the field for joy. It was the all-important 3-2 lead in the Royal Blues’ 4-2 away win. The blue and white are already in fifth place, only two points behind the second Amstetten.

“It wasn’t so much a relief as more a huge joy,” said coach Gerald Scheiblehner, describing the feeling of happiness. His team fell behind twice against the tail light. “It was an unfortunate game, Kapfenberg practically scored two goals with two chances. We showed incredible mentality and were rewarded for a strong performance.”

It is precisely these mental victories that give you a boost when you want to roll up the field from behind: The victory in Kapfenberg was the third in the league in a row. Scheiblehner: “We’ve suffered enough lately, but we stayed calm and came out of this weak phase stronger together.” Blau-Weiß Linz also impressively demonstrated that in Upper Styria: Even the injured players like Captain Michael Brandner, Fabio Strauß and Christoph Schösswendter made the journey away and whipped their team forward.

Steyr succeeds in liberating

Forward Steyr was able to celebrate a very important victory: Coach Daniel Madlener’s team was also 1-0 down against Lafnitz, but won 2-1. It was the first “treble” after five games without a win. Madlener: “We brought ourselves into it, but accepted the situation and showed a reaction.”
