Pedophile rapist busted at traffic stop

A 28-year-old man from Vienna was admitted to an institution for mentally abnormal offenders on Monday at the Feldkirch Regional Court for various sexual offenses – including rape and serious sexual abuse of minors. The man with the relevant criminal record confessed to having raped an eleven-year-old girl in Bregenz who was ten at the time of the crime. He also filmed the act. The judgment is not final.

Man frightened victims

The accused found his future victim on the Internet by posing as a nine-year-old. He contacted the woman from Vorarlberg and exchanged personal “experiences” with her. At first he tried to persuade the ten-year-old to engage in sexual activity. When that didn’t work, he picked up harder strings and started threatening. For this he in turn invented people, such as a “Goran”, who, if the child were not willing to have sex, would wipe out her entire family. Out of fear, the ten-year-old allowed herself to be picked up in Vorarlberg. The man drove her to a specially rented apartment in Bregenz, where he gagged, tied up and brutally raped the child. He filmed and photographed the victim.

Case was discovered by accident

After the fact, he brought the child back home. Faced with more frightening threats, another meeting was held, but no further sexual assaults occurred. The crimes were discovered by accident because the man got caught in a traffic stop and the police found sex toys and torture devices as well as “torture instructions”. Next to it were the personal data of the victim. Subsequent investigations brought the rape in Bregenz to light.

Defendant was sane

The accused confessed to the crime. In view of the opinion of forensic psychiatrist Reinhard Haller, the man was of sound mind and is considered dangerous. For this reason, the jury sent him to an institution for mentally abnormal offenders. 13 out of a possible 15 years were awarded. First, the man is put into prison, if he is still considered dangerous after 13 years, he can theoretically be arrested for life. If he has served part of his sentence there and is transferred to a prison, the time spent in the psychiatric ward will be credited and he will be released after 13 years. The victim was awarded 20,000 euros.

Judge appeals to parents

In the justification for the judgement, the chairman, Martin Mitteregger, pointed out the dangers of the internet and appealed to parents to be on their guard. “You never know who is behind the fantasy names and there are also a number of pedophiles in these social media,” says Mitteregger. The judgment is not final.
