E-biker died after an accident on a level crossing

A 70-year-old who was riding his e-bike from Linzer Straße in the direction of the B127 was hit by a trailer at the Niederottensheim level crossing that was being pushed by a locomotive. The cyclist drove into the intersection despite the red light. He fell under the trailer and was run over.

Any help came too late for the locals: he died at the scene of the accident, the police said on Tuesday evening. The team may have been a construction train. The Mühlkreisbahn is still closed between Linz-Urfahr and Aigen-Schlägl until November 6th due to track work, passenger trains are currently not running.

As reported, another serious accident involving an e-bike driver occurred just hours earlier in the Vorderweißenbach municipality: after an unsuccessful overtaking maneuver on the B38, a truck driver wanted to get back into the right lane and hit a 69-year-old, who rode his e-bike in the direction of Vorderweißenbach. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, fell and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
