When Reinhard Schlager handed over the presidency to the owner of the software manufacturer BMD and main sponsor Markus Knasmüller, there was not a spark of objection among the 124 voting members, only when ex-president Jörg Rigger returned to the board did the elephant memory stir veteran of the red and white. Rudi Blasi, he is also a councilor of the SP, attracted attention because he was the only one of the 124 delegates entitled to vote who did not approve of the election proposal and abstained.
There is no doubt that the memo Rigger applied, because Blasi is not alone in having reservations about his return to the board because his former management of the club was by no means sovereign. The common memory of a small circle goes back to “a night and fog action” in which 20,000 euros were raised at a bar in the greatest emergency at a late hour in order to save the SKV in the regional league, a year later Schlager were able to take over the club largely debt-free in 2016.
In spite of any old bills from a few officials, the new board welcomed Rigger as reinforcement and drew attention to the great unanimity with which the personnel decisions had been made. There is great relief from the new president Knasmüller downwards that Schlager and Michael Obermair, as the previous doers in the club, continue as his deputies in a crucial phase of the traditional football club: Despite the corona pandemic, the red and white succeeded in the 2019/20 and 2020/ 21 to achieve annual surpluses and, despite the corona-related decline in visitor numbers, were given the license by the Bundesliga right away for the 2022/23 season. There are enough challenges for the new board: Since switching to professional football this year, the stadium is being renovated and a new training facility is to be built.
