A nuclear contaminated bomb is called a “dirty bomb”. One of the pictures, which appeared on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s English-language Twitter account, belongs to the Slovenian Agency for Radioactive Waste and dates from 2010, the Internet newspaper Ukrajinska Pravda reported on Wednesday.
The Russian accusation that Kyiv is planning to use a radioactive bomb is interpreted in the West as a possible pretext for a further escalation of the war. Kyiv rejects the allegations. The Russian government has been warning of an alleged radioactive bomb in Kiev’s hands since the beginning of the week. Their use on Ukrainian territory should therefore be intended to discredit Moscow. Western governments have dismissed the allegations as implausible.
Ukraine and Israel are improving their relations
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the exchange of intelligence with Israel and spoke of a “positive trend” in relations between the two states. “So we are at the beginning of cooperation, this is a positive trend in relations with Israel,” Zelenskyy said. The shared data would confirm Ukrainian intelligence on Iranian drones deployed in the country.
“The data currently exchanged by the secret service once again confirms what our services knew: Russia has already used around 400 Iranian drones against the Ukrainian civilian population,” said Zelenskyy. According to him, 60 to 70 percent of the unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by the Ukrainian air defenses.
At a conference organized by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Monday, Zelenskyy accused the Israeli government of favoring an “alliance” between Russia and Iran with its neutral stance. Then on Wednesday he stated that Ukraine and Israel would now exchange important information. After a long break, he now sees progress, the President said.
However, that is not enough, Zelenskyj added. Israel is a state that really knows what war means. “And I think he should support Ukraine more,” said the head of state.
Israel has so far held back in the Russian war of aggression with the support of Ukraine. So far, Israel has not been willing to provide Ukraine with the state-of-the-art Iron Dome anti-aircraft shield developed jointly with the United States. Russia’s active military role in Israel’s neighboring state of Syria plays a role in Israel’s largely neutral stance on the Ukraine war.
