Premiere: Rail milling with a hydrogen-powered machine

Two years ago, the Linsinger company from Laakirch presented the world’s first hydrogen-powered track construction machine. Now the train has its Austrian premiere in the Salzkammergut: Since Monday, the “Linsinger MG11”, a rail milling train, has been on the Traunseetram railway line between Gmunden and Vorchdorf.

Milling the rails increases passenger comfort. But the service life of the rails is also increased. And milling the rails is quieter than grinding them.

The smallest hydrogen-powered rail milling train in the world will be in use for several days and will bring a number of track sections of the local railway back into shape. “I want hydrogen propulsion to be the norm by 2030 and not the exception, and for Austria to be climate-neutral by 2040,” says Günter Holleis, Managing Director of Linsinger.
