Golfers will soon be cavorting in Uno-Shopping

The concept originally came from Scandinavia, but now it is also to be found in Leonding. We’re talking about Ruff’s year-round indoor golf range, which will open on November 4th at the Uno shopping area.

On 650 square meters you can play on simulators in any weather, there are more than 170 golf courses worldwide to choose from. In order for the game to feel as real as possible in the simulator environment, the corresponding lounges are dimensioned in such a way that an unrestricted feeling of swing can arise, informs Ruff Master franchisee Markus Gaggl.

The premiere system in Leonding will soon be followed by more, up to 20 more systems are planned in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. These are to be implemented with the help of other franchisees.

funded project

The central region of Upper Austria with its many golf clubs is ideal for the pilot location, says Gaggl. The native of Ansfelden is convinced that the “target group of golfers” will expand massively with the offer. The indoor golf facility is one of nine projects that have been supported since July 2022 in the Tourism Incubator, Upper Austria’s support program for tourism start-ups. The selected projects will be advised, funded and supported for a year by the business and tourism department, the Business Upper Austria location agency, Oberösterreich Tourismus GmbH and tech2b Inkubator GmbH.

For Andreas Winkelhofer, Managing Director of Upper Austria Tourism, this will enrich leisure tourism in the state and strengthen digitization in tourism. Werner Pamminger, Managing Director of Business Upper Austria, also sees great potential in the innovative mix of sporting activities and social gatherings to appeal to new groups of guests.

“Innovations in the tourism and leisure industry are helping to strengthen the industry, which has recently been in great demand. With the opening, Ruff Indoor Golf is giving a visionary impetus,” says Raphael Friedl, Managing Director of tech2b Inkubator GmbH. Peter Enzinger, President of the Austrian Golf Association, too is pleased about the new indoor golf offer: “Of course, the experience of playing golf in the fresh air cannot be replaced digitally, but we still see clear added value for golf in these new technical possibilities.”

Beginners are also welcome

A handicap or club membership is not required to use the indoor facility, equipment is available for hire on site – experienced golfers are just as welcome as beginners. Infos:ruffgolf.at The business concept is based on several pillars: From gaming operations to a gastronomic bar and a golf shop. In Sweden, where the concept was born, there are already ten such indoor facilities, and an eleventh is about to open.

The indoor trampoline park Jump Dome can also be found on the Uno shopping area. As reported, big plans are being rolled out for the area. The WAG housing cooperative, which now owns the area, plans to develop a mix of commercial space, offices and shops as well as apartments there in the coming years.
