This year’s Styraburg Festival presents interesting personalities and different artistic genres. Accordionist Luciano Biondini and Klaus Fehllunger on the sitar, the Indian long-necked lute, will kick things off on Thursday, November 3rd. In their current program “Once in a Blue Moon” the two combine American, European and Indian sound worlds and create dreamy soundscapes. It starts at 7.30 p.m. in the studio in Lamberg Castle.
The next day, host Hapé Schreiberhuber is on stage himself. He recites from “Sonettes to Orpheus” and is accompanied by Catherina Lee and Marilies Guschlbauer on cello. This evening reflects an approach that Schreiberhuber would like to pursue even more in the future: “Namely, to bring different generations of artists to the stage and hopefully attract as many young people as possible,” said Schreiberhuber in an interview with the Steyrer Zeitung. For him, the 55 sonnets to Orpheus by Rainer Maria Rilke represent “a highlight of German-language poetry”. It is important to him to make such material accessible to young people. Just like the enthusiasm for the culture itself. That is one of the main reasons for Schreiberhuber “to organize a festival in Steyr since 2007”.
On Saturday the writer Andreas Weber has his say. In excerpts from the anthology “So nicht! – Sentimental Stories” he lets the audience participate in sparse moments of happiness. The trio Forlane forms the conclusion in the course of a Sunday matinee. Among other things, the musicians completely reinterpret baroque music and make the imperfect beauty of cracks and fractures audible.
During the festival, the Tanzanian artist Yasinta Balama and Hapé Schreiberhuber are showing their works of painting, graphics, photography and drawings in the exhibition “Tatu, Zwei, One”.
The festival pass costs 100 euros. Tickets are available at tickets@styraburg.com or by phone on 0650 5922322. More information about the program and artists: www.styraburg.com
