The deputy district manager Alexander Stellnberger and his colleague Kornelia Ahrer, who is responsible for social services, were very happy about a generous donation from the Steyr Lions Clubs. The Lions delegation presented a check for 14,500 euros at the Red Cross office.
The Almauer company also made this sum possible with their contribution. “This means we can offer a lot of cooking oil,” said Kornelia Ahrer, head of the Rotkreuz market. Oil is a highly coveted food and is therefore worth its weight in gold, especially in these times. Up to 80 customers now come to the store on each opening day. “Before the inflation wave, we didn’t know that there were queues in front of our door,” said Stellnberger. In winter, the demand will probably increase even further. Therefore, the representatives of the Lions Clubs in Steyr – specifically the clubs Steyr, Steyr Innerberg, Steyr St. Ulrich, Steyr Omnia and the Leo Club Steyr – assured that they were interested in a long-term cooperation. Under the motto “We serve”, Lions help voluntarily and worldwide where it is needed.
Good start for new market
The new Rotkreuz market for the Pyhrn-Priel region has also been really well received. The mayors of the supporting municipalities recently got an idea of the new offer. The volunteers are motivated, the shelves are full. Now it is important to apply for a shopping card if necessary. (dmf)
