“I made the decision to abandon my Russian citizenship; I cannot and do not want to be associated with a fascist country sparking a war with its peaceful neighbor and killing innocents daily,” Tinkov wrote on Instagram.
“I hope that other leading Russian businessmen will follow my example, to weaken the regime of [Vladimir] Putin and his economy, and cause it to fail,” he added.
Tinkov accompanied his message with a photograph of a certificate from the Russian consulate confirming that he ceased to have Russian citizenship, according to the AFP news agency.
“I hate Putin’s Russiabut I love all the Russians who are clearly against this insane war!” said the founder of the rapidly growing Tinkoff bank.
