The police then moved in with explosives experts and explosives detection dogs. Several buildings, including the Oberbank, the tax office and a driving school, were cleared, and the surrounding area was largely cordoned off by the police and the Ried city guard.
The all clear followed in the late morning. “The operation is over. Fortunately, nothing was found. The roadblocks have been lifted and the employees were able to return to the premises,” said Nina Kargl from the Ried police department when asked by the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten.
IT department is looking for the culprit
According to Kargl, the bomb threat reached the bank’s internal messaging system. The threat was dated for today, Wednesday. Now it’s up to the police’s IT specialists to find the sender of the message. If the perpetrator is found, he faces a trial for making dangerous threats.
