550 book vouchers encourage children to enjoy reading

To mark International Kiwanis Day at the end of October, book vouchers worth ten euros each were given to school children in front of several bookstores in the district. This voucher can be redeemed when buying a book in the bookstores Frick and Pössenberger in Perg, Meritas in Mauthausen and Grünsteidl in Grein.

“This campaign met with an extremely positive response,” sums up Helmut Gottesberger, President of the Kiwanis Club Mühlviertel. More than 550 vouchers worth 5500 euros were handed over to young bookworms during the campaign day. The children’s joy was correspondingly great, and most of the vouchers were immediately used to buy a book.

“Being able to read well is important in the development of every child and a prerequisite for school and professional success. This campaign is intended to make a contribution to this,” says Gottesberger about the Kiwanis campaign. The active support of the teachers at the elementary and secondary schools in the district played a significant part in the success. They distributed flyers at schools promoting the Kiwanis Day of Action. Gottesberger: “The distribution of the information leaflets on the book voucher campaign was decisive for the great popularity and success of the campaign.”
