Lola Wagner has been collecting donations in kind and vouchers for the hospital and nursing staff privately and from companies for a year now. The trigger for the engagement of the woman from Gmunden was the imploring and attacks of fanatical opponents of vaccination and corona measures against hospital and nursing staff.
“We can’t prevent this, but we can ensure that our nursing staff experience maximum affection and appreciation,” Wagner said to herself and began to get presents with her colleague Annemarie Leitner. They gave their project the simple name “Charity”.
Since then, the two ladies have given hospitals, homes, the Red Cross and other associations that provide mobile care services donuts, fruit bowls, dairy products, snacks, art, children’s drawings and vouchers from companies – from inns to treetop walks. These gifts were worth several thousand euros.
“The appreciation for those who do incredible things in times of pandemic is just as important, if not more important than the monetary one,” said Mayor Stefan Krapf (ÖVP) at the recent handover in the town hall. “And 95 percent of the population is grateful behind you.”
