Hours earlier, the defense minister, Javier Garciahad stated that the leak constituted a “treason” to the nation. This Friday, the President coincided with his reading.
“It is assumed that if someone dedicates himself to politics it is because he has a vocation for service and if he has a vocation for service it is because he loves the country, that he commits sabotage of this type does not seem to me,” he said.
Along these lines, he continued with the description of whoever was responsible for the leak: “He is someone who does not care about the country, which measured a lower political or personal cost.” Furthermore, he lamented, “Whoever does this kind of thing usually does it well enough that no one notices.”
What happened to the confidential information?
The October 24ththe director Garcé presented before the bicameral commission of the Parliament that supervises the work of Intelligence, a plan that includes the investigation of “presumably violent” organizations within the national territory.
The alarms went off when TV Ciudad published a report with information -which was leaked on twitter– about the session detailing Garcé’s orders to the National Police.
The author of the publications, in the words of the Director of Intelligence, “is an individual who received the reserved information and resolved to disseminate it.”
The official also recalled the existence of the article 301 of the Penal Code –crime of disclosure of secret documents–, the Article 115 of the Constitution of the Republic -norm that provides for the removal of the infidentes as the maximum sanction- and mentioned that, according to the Law 19,696the conduct of the responsible legislator makes him “unworthy of the representation he invests.”
However, there is not a single suspect. There are ten implicated: Raúl Lozano, Graciela Bianchi, Gustavo Penadés, Álvaro Viviano, Raúl Batlle, Daniel Caggiani, Micaela Melgar, Mariano Tucci, Diego Reyes and Luis Alberto Posse.
