The world number one from Spain suffered an abdominal muscle injury in the quarterfinals of Paris-Bercy on Friday and had to cancel his premiere in the “Masters” of the top eight men. Alcaraz said he would be out for at least six weeks, which means the end of his season for the US Open winner.
“Unfortunately, this is the result of my injury: an internal oblique muscle tear in the left abdominal wall with an estimated recovery time of six weeks,” the Spaniard tweeted. The American Taylor Fritz will take his place in Turin.
