The citizens of Vorchdorf showed great interest at the open day in the new farewell hall. Undertaker and master carpenter Bernhard Radner, pastor P. Franz Ackerl and mayor Johann Mitterlehner took the time to familiarize the visitors with the new building.
In the center of the farewell hall is the prayer room, which can be used multifunctionally and offers around 100 seats. Commemoration of the dead, liturgical celebrations or commemoration in a non-denominational setting are now possible in one place. The outdoor area in front can be included in the celebration by means of a large sliding door. The hall is equipped with the latest multimedia technology, photo or video reviews for the deceased are even easier to implement. By means of curtains, farewells before cremations can be made dignified. Generous window facades illuminate the room from both sides. A small atrium with a wall shields the farewell room from the busy state road and provides the best soundproofing and privacy protection. Next door there are two more rooms for laying out.
The construction of the new farewell hall took place in turbulent times. The corona pandemic and price increases in the construction and energy sectors required flexibility in implementation. With the construction costs of around 1.9 million euros, however, the project remained within budget and was completed on time. Excursions to reference projects in Sierning, Krenglbach, Altschwendt and to the Barbara cemetery in Linz already took place in March 2018. Community representatives, undertakers and representatives of the parish and of the Verein Zukunft Vorchdorf took part at the time. Many inputs and ideas flowed into the planning and ultimately into the Vorchdorfer building. In the next few weeks, final fine-tuning work will be carried out. It is expected that the new farewell hall can go into operation in mid-November 2022.
