A walker had discovered a stuck car on a hiking trail in the spa park, with a sleeping man in the driver’s seat. The drunk driver had apparently used the hiking trail as a shortcut during the night and had fallen asleep in the car when he could neither drive forwards nor backwards and could no longer get out.
In doing so, he left a trail of devastation on the path that was far too narrow, as the fire brigade reported in a broadcast on Sunday. Both railings and several concrete posts were damaged and the car was severely demolished.
Tedious salvage
The salvage of the car turned out to be difficult and lengthy as the road was impassable. The fire brigade used cable winches and pulleys to pull the vehicle back bit by bit. The damaged concrete posts also had to be removed to make room.
An alcohol test on the handlebars showed 1.3 per mille, reported the Baden city police on their Facebook page. He had to give up his driver’s license.
