Hours of sunshine through to changeable rainy weather: the coming week will be divided into two in terms of weather. However, one thing unites the next five days, namely the temperatures that are too warm for the season, as Josef Haslhofer from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) said yesterday.
And it also dampens the hope of all those who can no longer wait to use their touring skis or sleds. “The temperatures will drop a bit in the second half of the week. But really cold phases, as usual in November, are not yet in sight,” says Haslhofer, who summarizes the outlook for the coming days as follows.
We can expect relatively mild weather conditions until Wednesday. This will be particularly noticeable in the mountains, some of which are already covered with snow, says the meteorologist. “Due to the many hours of sunshine, the snow will be significantly less again.”
Today’s Monday starts after a partly rainy night with extensive cloud fields, which will be found mainly in the southern half of the country. However, these are likely to dissipate everywhere in the course of the morning: “Sunshine can be expected across the country from noon,” says Haslhofer, who has announced temperatures of between ten and 15 degrees for the afternoon.

Frosty night temperatures
Tuesday night will be characterized in many places by a clear sky and thus a good view of the stars and slightly frosty temperatures (minus one degree, for example in the Mühlviertel). The day begins accordingly clear, but only from an altitude of 600 meters, while the fog persists in the regions below in the morning. “In the afternoon,” says Haslhofer, “it will be sunny across the country.” Especially in the southern mountains, such as in Hausruck or in the Welser Heide, the foehn is spreading and bringing warm temperatures between eleven and 17 degrees.
Change from sun to clouds
Wednesday will not be quite as sunny anymore: Especially in the Vöcklabruck district, persistent foggy patches can last the whole day. But even away from it, the sun can be obscured by high veil clouds. The maximum values are eleven to 16 degrees and are therefore also above the climate mean on this day.
A cold front coming from the west and north-west will then bring rain during the night to Thursday, which will also give the sun no chance during the day. It will also be a bit cooler than last time – Haslhofer is now forecasting “high values corresponding to the season” of between eight and twelve degrees, which will feel significantly cooler due to the brisk north-west wind blowing at peak speeds of 40 km/h will. A mix of sun and clouds is expected for Friday with daily highs of a maximum of twelve degrees. (never)
