Actually, the narrowing of the roadway to one lane was only permitted in a night operation, the magistrate of the state capital Linz announced on Monday. Despite this, the construction company worked Monday morning, which led to traffic chaos and waiting times of over an hour. The police were informed and asked for more controls, according to the magistrate on OÖN request.
Another ray of hope: According to the site manager, the asphalting work should be completed this Monday – from then on, two lanes will be free again as usual.
The construction site should be completed by November 18th. Then the area for pedestrians between the lanes will be widened and the bus stop will be rebuilt. The current decision is still valid until then, the magistrate informed. The construction company has not yet submitted a request for an extension.
