In June, the members of Round Table 31 Ried were still confident that the popular Ried City Ball would take place in January 2023. “If the pandemic situation allows it, the ball should celebrate its comeback,” it said at the time. The Rieder Stadtball has been a fixed point in the Innviertler event calendar for many years, and it is also the largest charity ball in Upper Austria.
In 2021 and 2022, the event fell victim to the corona pandemic. It is now clear that the ball will fail for the third time in a row. The reason is not Corona, but the high energy costs and the current inflation rate. “We have decided that we will not hold the Rieder Stadtball, which was planned for January 14, 2023. Unfortunately, when it comes to energy prices, we have no planning security at all. Unfortunately, it therefore makes no sense to hold the city ball in the usual way, ”says Andreas Pumberger, press officer of Round Table 31 Ried, at the request of OÖN.
