For centuries, the Traunfall, with its twelve meter drop, was the most dangerous obstacle for salt shipping on the Traun. In the Capital of Culture year 2024, the natural monument between Roitham and Desselbrunn will become an “Arena of Human Rights” with a five-kilometer circular route and works of art at ten stations.
The project was initiated by the Traunfall cultural heritage association. “We want to deal with values such as freedom, democracy, human dignity, security, family, culture, education and peace,” says Christian Neudorfer, chairman of the Roitham association. There will be a series of events during the Capital of Culture year. “We want to put our lived values to the test with lectures, workshops and discussions and create sensitivity,” says Neudorfer. Schools and other associations have already announced their participation.
The Arena of Human Rights is a project of the Traunstein LEADER region and is also financially supported by the municipality of Roitham.
