Asfinag is planning a photovoltaic system on the Niedernhart enclosure

There was unanimity on Thursday in the municipal council when the resolution to the Linz+ Asfinag was put to the vote. This aims to set up a solar power plant on the Niedernhart enclosure on the A7. The potential is enormous, argues Linz+ councilor Lorenz Potocnik, more than 1000 households could be supplied with the electricity produced there.

The decision for the construction was actually no longer necessary, the planning for a photovoltaic system at the Niedernhart site is already in progress, the Asfinag press office reports. An in-house potential analysis for the production of green energy was carried out some time ago, which showed the high potential of the roof area of said housing.

Corresponds to the requirements of 1000 single-family homes

The implementation is a clear goal, but there is still no concrete implementation plan. The idea is to use the entire surface of the enclosure, the potential optimum output is 4450 kilowatts peak, which corresponds to the needs of 1000 single-family homes. However, the energy generated is not intended to supply households, it is to be used to supply the Niedernhart and Bindermichl tunnel systems.
