Christoph Monschein apologized to Ried’s coach

Christoph Monschein apologized to Ried’s coach

The expulsion of Ried’s striker Christoph Monschein from the squad before the home game of the Innviertel team against Austria Klagenfurt had recently been the dominant topic in the Innviertel. During yesterday’s first team training session after the Klagenfurt game, the 30-year-old gave the first real sign: Monschein apologized to his coach and teammates for his behavior. “It wasn’t a big deal for us. We’ll be going to Tyrol with the best players on Friday,” says Heinle, giving the go-ahead for a return to the Vikings squad if his striker has a decent week of training. The Rieder will need a fully motivated Monschein to be able to achieve their goals in the spring.

Eleven contracts expire

It cannot be ruled out that he might even get an additional competitor in attack. “We’re currently working on whether and where we need something – and what’s possible,” says sporting director Thomas Reicheltshammer. After an upheaval in the summer, the 34-year-old is also facing an intensive transfer period in winter – especially with regard to the coming season: Nine contracts are expiring, and the loan contracts of Kingsley Michael and Luca Kronberger are also ending.

After all: David Ungar, Julian Turi, Philipp Pomer, Oliver Kragl, Leo Mikic and Seifedin Chabbi have options to extend their contracts. The club has to agree on new contracts for goalie Samuel Sahin-Radlinger, Stefan Nutz and the currently injured Marcel Ziegl and Nikola Stosic. Especially with the central midfielder Stosic things are looking good. Reicheltshammer: “It’s definitely going in the right direction.”

Departures possible in winter

In order to be able to strengthen in winter, however, one or the other will have to leave the club: Agyemang Diawusie, brought in to replace Ante Bajic, has not yet been able to meet expectations – but has a contract until 2024. And the permanently injured Robin Ungerath also played in Ried’s fighting team no role at all – with him it looks like a premature separation in winter.
