House music roas with a baritone world star

Rafael Fingerlos (36) has performed in London, Milan and Nice and is one of the best virtuosos in his field. Tomorrow and Saturday (7.30 p.m.) he can be seen together with Patricia Nolz (mezzo-soprano), Julia Hagen (cello) and the ensemble of the Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden at a special kind of pre-Christmas concert in the imperial stables of the Bad Ischl Kaiservilla. The Salzkammergut wind quartet and the children of the Salzburg Shepherds’ Advent will also be there.

It is a house music Roas concert of the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks. A format that the festival weeks owe to Franz Welser-Möst. It bridges the gap between authentic folk music and classical music and has already helped music lovers in the region to numerous acclaimed concerts.

“Folk music has always been of great importance in the Salzkammergut and has produced great things in this region,” says Welser-Möst. “Many famous composers have stayed here in the summer: Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler and Hugo Wolf have all been inspired by this beautiful landscape. The house music initiative should allow house music to flourish in the Salzkammergut and produce something new.”
