Gmunden helps to help

With a Christmas tree campaign, the municipality of Gmunden gives the population the opportunity to give presents to children who come from financially weak families. All parents who receive an energy and heating subsidy and who can prove that they have a very low income are written to by the social welfare office and asked to announce what their children would like for Santa Claus. The response cards will be hanging on a Christmas tree at the Am Graben citizen service point next week.

Passers-by are invited to pick an envelope from this tree wishing to have a child and either get what they want themselves or give the necessary money to the social welfare office.

“We want to alleviate financial bottlenecks in families and hope for the generosity of the people of Gmunden,” says Gmunden’s new social committee chairman Peter Trieb (FPÖ).
