»Good platform«: 47 exhibitors present themselves at the apprenticeship fair in Schärding

The apprentice fair in Schärding has now become an indispensable part of the local economy, said Chamber of Commerce Chairman Florian Grünberger at the opening of what is now the 10th edition. “Young people are in demand like never before. The apprenticeship fair is a good platform for bringing young people, parents and companies together,” says Grünberger. 200 apprenticeships are currently open in the Schärding district alone. “The demand for young people who want to take the dual training path is unabatedly high,” says the WKO district office chairman. 856 apprentices are currently being trained in 136 trades in 283 apprenticeship companies in the Schärding district.

In addition to numerous regional training companies, the AMS, youth service, youth at work, carpenters’ state guild, career advice, polytechnic schools and the Schärding vocational school are also represented in the district sports hall this weekend. A total of 47 exhibitors are present at this year’s apprenticeship fair. Many interested people have already taken the opportunity to find out more about the diversity of apprenticeships. There is another opportunity tomorrow, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Carry on Ellmer’s fire

The opening of the 10th Schärdinger apprentice fair was also marked by mourning. At the end of October, Alois Ellmer, long-standing head of the Schärding Chamber of Commerce, died at the age of 64 after a serious illness. “Alois was always very concerned about the apprentice fair. As with so many other things, he put his heart and soul into it. But we want to carry this fire on,” said Grünberger after a minute’s silence for Ellmer. The deceased head was succeeded by Gabriel Gruber. “A new face, but with the same old fire,” Gruber promised to continue Ellmer’s commitment.
