For weeks, the SKU Amstetten had been at the top of the table and had been the surprise team in the second highest domestic football league. In the final sprint of the autumn season, however, coach Jochen Fallmann’s team ran out of breath and they must have been longing for the Christmas break. The narrow 2-1 defeat in the Lower Austria derby near Horn is now followed by a 4-0 defeat in the Mostviertel derby against St. Pölten at home. As a result, Amstetten slipped down to seventh place, while St. Pölten was crowned King of Winter in the last push.
Even if the last appearance this year went wrong, the Fallmann team can still be satisfied with this autumn season. With her strong performances, she has really earned her place in the top field of the league.
However, just six weeks after the 2:3 home defeat against Amstetten, St. Pölten ran onto the field in the Ertl Stadium with anger in their stomach and started brilliantly. Jaden Sean Montnor made it 0-1 after six minutes, Luis Hartwig made it 0-2 in the 14th minute, after which Montnor completed his triple pack with two more goals (21st, 51st).
As a result, Amstetten tried to give their own audience a consolation goal, but it remained at 0:4.
