252 instead of 60 guests: nightclub in Vorchdorf officially closed

The operators of the small nightclub “Fuzzy” on Pettenbacherstrasse in Vorchdorf (district of Gmunden) describe it as a dance bar. Last night there wasn’t much room left for dancing.

252 instead of the maximum permitted 60 night owls were found during a joint check by the police and district authorities ten minutes after midnight. And apparently not for the first time. “There have always been incidents in the past. We’ve had talks with the operators, but at some point we have to set an example,” says Gmunden District Governor Alois Lanz.

Because the checks also revealed blatant deficiencies in fire protection, escape routes and the building electronics, the officials had the restaurant closed due to imminent danger. The visitors were expelled from the restaurant.

In the neighboring dance bar “Foxxy” they would not have gotten any more space either: instead of the officially approved 100 visitors, 340 people celebrated there on Sunday night. A 46-year-old local guest from St. Valentin (Amstetten district) did not particularly like the control: he threw a glass at a police officer. The officer suffered a cut on his face, and his colleague left the bar with a damaged mobile phone.

Because officials were insulted several times and drunk drivers were also found, numerous reports of administrative violations were filed with the district authority.

“We are often very patient and don’t always get involved in every little thing. But that was no longer a small thing. The guests are not even aware of what can happen,” says Lanz.
