The Carinthian fell during training and seriously injured both legs. After receiving first aid at the scene, he was rushed to Vail Health Hospital, where a thorough examination revealed an open left leg fracture, a compound right leg fracture, and a laceration on the right arm.
“Max started the swing too tightly in a double left turn, then got caught in the goal with his upper body and then fell. It’s extremely unfortunate because he has big plans for this season with his new kit supplier. For our speed team it is a huge weakness. I wish Max that he comes back as soon as possible”, says Marko Pfeifer, the sports director of the alpine skiing men’s team.
The 33-year-old speed specialist was picked up by Dr. Randy Viola (US Ski Team Doctor) operated on both legs.
