At around 8:45 p.m., officers from the Seewalchen Autobahn Police Inspectorate stopped a driver on the A1 at the Regau exit. The driver refused to identify himself/herself and to get out of the car. After repeated requests, the driver stubbornly refused to get out of the car. Eventually, the driver had to be taken out of the car by officers and arrested, although he initially resisted the arrest, police said in a statement.
A joint and a clamp bag, presumably containing narcotic drugs, were found in the driver’s clothing and seized. Finally, the identity of the driver was also determined. It is a 34-year-old Iranian who is entitled to asylum and lives in Linz. The man did not have a valid driver’s license because it had already been taken away from him. Since the man showed symptoms of an addictive substance impairment, he was brought to a doctor for examination. However, the 34-year-old refused the fitness to drive examination.
The Iranian is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels for several crimes, as well as driving without a license, refusal to undergo a fitness to drive test and handling the cell phone while driving.
