The accident happened on November 14 at around 4:30 p.m. on the B148 in the Braunau area. A 19-year-old from Bosnia was traveling in the direction of Germany with his motor vehicle train, which had a car on it. A 29-year-old from the Braunau district came towards him with his car. Due to the traffic slowing down in front of him, the 19-year-old may have steered his car into the other lane and collided head-on with the car there.
Both drivers and the passenger of the 29-year-old were taken to the Braunau hospital by ambulance, but were released after outpatient treatment. The Braunau volunteer fire brigade was on site with 15 people and had to get the vehicles out of the ditch and off the road. Significant damage was found on both vehicles. According to head of operations Klaus Litzlbauer, the biggest problem was the traffic obstruction. Since the accident occurred at rush hour, traffic in all of Braunau and the surrounding area came to a standstill.
