The final of the ÖGV (Austrian Weightlifting Association) national league was contested this year by SK Vöest Linz and the Innviertel competition community. The latter gave their all, but in the end it was a clear affair for the Stahlstadt team, who secured the championship title with a 3-0 win. The Innviertler were without Jakob Maislinger, Matthias Perik and Lena Raidel at the start. Linda Weyand, Jürgen Grubmüller and Christian Landlinger took their place on the competition stage alongside Jakob Weber and Phillip Boresch. The 28-year-old Boresch set a new personal best with 161 kilograms in the clean and jerk and was the best lifter of the evening with 334.19 points. Jakob Weber achieved three new records with 115 kilograms in the snatch, 140 in the clean and jerk and 255 in a duel. Linda Wimmer was also strong and was happy about two new personal bests (62 kg in the snatch, 142 kg in the duel). Club colleague Christian Landlinger (145 kg in clean and jerk, 257 kg in a duel) did the same. In the end, however, all the personal records were not enough to secure the championship title. The Innviertler can still be satisfied with second place.
Leading into the final
WKG Innviertel Lochen/Ranshofen goes into the final of the women’s Bundesliga as the leader with 833 points. This will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 6 p.m. in the Ing.-Peter-Schnabl-Halle in Lochen am See. This is exactly where the Bundesliga winner of 2019 and 2020 would like to secure his third championship title. One club will have something against it: SK Vöest Linz, who also want to have a say in the fight for the title. Candidate number three, who will take part in the final, is WKG Bruck/Barbell from Styria.
Lena Raidel, Petra Schmutzer and Linda Weyand will be at the start for the WKG Innviertel. Sarah Fischer, who will soon start at the World Championships, received a credit from the association. Top lifter Chrissy Schröcker will be absent on Saturday due to knee surgery.
