Imagination, visionary thinking, creativity and a love of experimentation: four focal points that the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the University of Applied Arts Vienna want to merge in their cooperation. In the “Art x Science School for Transformation” one wants to bundle the common knowledge.
“In order to remain capable of acting in these new times, under new conditions, and to shape positive changes, new knowledge and new skills are needed,” says JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas. The “School” bundles the strengths of both universities with the aim of “confronting the urgent questions of our time and shaping future-oriented teaching and research”. The newly founded training center with the unusual name is a further step in a cooperation that started in 2019.
“The creative networking of knowledge is at least as important as the increase of knowledge,” says the Rector of the Applied Sciences Gerald Bast. In autumn 2023, an English-language bachelor’s and PhD program is to be started. The students attend courses in Linz and Vienna and can “use the advantages of both universities”.
