Christmas World in Wels opened: After a countdown, thousands of lights shone

After a two-year break due to Corona, the classic Christmas market with handicrafts, choir singing, punch and the smell of cookies is taking place again in Wels. At 5:30 p.m. on Friday, the Christmas world started with the switching on of the Christmas lights on the town square.

Before that, the horn ensemble of the State Music School Gunskirchen and Pichl provided the musical framework for the opening. After that, the Wels kindergarten welfare organization performed a lovingly choreographed shadow play. After the symbolic handover of the key to the city for the Wels Christmas world, the Wels priest Nico Tomic took over the blessing of the Christmas market. After a joint countdown, the thousands of lights were switched on.

The city center decorated for Christmas with lots of Christmas trees, a 1.7 kilometer long trail of lights with 700,000 LED light points and crystals and rustic wooden huts put visitors in the Advent mood. A daily program with live music, performances by the kindergarten children, fairy tales, brass bands and choirs awaits you during the Christmas in the mountains on the town square. Other highlights are the children’s Christmas on Minoritenplatz, the winter magic in Pollheimerpark and the Gösser beer garden Advent.
