Migration: Four dead and two missing in the Mediterranean

Algerian authorities on Saturday reported a migrant boat that got into trouble due to bad weather conditions. A cargo ship was dispatched to help the migrants, the Italian Coast Guard reported. When the migrants saw the ship, they jumped into the water. The Algerian authorities asked the Italian Coast Guard for cooperation given the waters in which the incident occurred – 15 miles from Italian sea territory. The Roman coast guard then intervened and coordinated the use of sea and air vehicles to rescue the migrants.

There were 13 people on board the migrant boat. Seven people were recovered, four bodies were found dead at sea and two others are still missing. The search continued using patrol boats, Coast Guard helicopters and planes, an Air Force helicopter and Algerian planes, although it is complicated by the poor weather conditions at sea.
