The Steinbach Black Wings want to make up for the unsuccessful start from Friday’s league break (0:1 against Fehervar) in Villach. After a game in which Linzer was just not lucky (two hits on the post in the final stages, some “unlucky bounces”), coach Philipp Lukas said: “Fehervar only made a few mistakes and didn’t allow much. We have to show respect how they fought. A bounce decided the game. However, I’m very happy with the performance of my team – especially after a break.”

Upper Austrian celebrated debut for Villach

So now the third team from the south of Austria also has a player from Linz in the line-up. After Graz grabbed Erik Kirchschläger a few years ago and Klagenfurt secured the services of Lukas Haudum a little later, Niklas Wetzl, who was born in Steyr, has been playing in the ICE Hockey League in Villach since Friday. The debut of the son of ex-president Wilfrid Wetzl went well: VSV won 4:3 against HC Innsbruck.

The other games on Sunday afternoon:

  • HC Pustertal – Vienna Capitals (3 p.m.)
  • Graz 99ers – Red Bull Salzburg (4 p.m.)
  • Villacher SV – Black Wings Linz (4.30 p.m.)
  • Fehervar AV19 – Klagenfurt AC (5.30 p.m.)
