One of the first signs of the approaching Advent in Kefermarkt is the traditional “wreath tying” event, to which the Catholic Women’s Movement invited people last Thursday. Twenty women and forty skilled hands tied 80 Advent wreaths in various sizes from a “mountain” of fir branches provided by the Weinberg estate administration. Yesterday, on the last Sunday before the 1st Sunday in Advent, the finished wreaths were sold at the parish center. The proceeds benefit charitable and church purposes.
However, a copy of the wreaths always requires special skill and many years of experience: the large wreath for the chancel of the church. It has to succeed, as it hovers directly above the people’s altar. This honorable and responsible task has been entrusted to Elfriede Reindl for 20 years. The green temporary church decoration was particularly successful again this year with “Zuaroacherin” Irmi Pötscher, according to objective observers: beautiful twigs, considerable density and size.
